There are several ways to receive notifications of activity in your D2L course sites.


  • Allows user to subscribe to D2L Discussions to receive an email when someone posts a message.
  • To set this up, select [Subscribe] from the drop-down menu next to any Discussion topic or forum you wish to subscribe to.

General notifications

  • Text, email, and RSS.
  • Allows user to enter an email address, telephone number, or set up an RSS feed to receive a text or email message about impending deadlines and unread discussion messages.

Instructors can receive an email each time a student completes a quiz. To set this up:

  • In the Properties section of the specific quiz, find the “Optional Advanced Properties” area and type your email address in the text box provided.

        • Course name and code in D2L
        • Quiz name
        • Student name

MyHome Page updates

In the My Courses area of the main D2L page, under each course title, you can see what’s new in the course.

  • Instructors will see a count of
    • ungraded quiz attempts
    • unread discussion messages
    • unread dropbox submissions
    • new enrollments

My Courses notifications: instructor view

  • Students will see a count of
    • unattempted quizzes
    • unread discussion messages
    • unread dropbox feedback
My Courses notifications: student view

Online Rooms

  • Invitation email
    • Generated automatically when individuals or groups are given access to an Online Room session in D2L.
    • “From” address is “”.
    • Note: It is not possible to suppress these emails.
