Sending an email to all participants within your D2L course site or selecting an individual as an email recipient is easy! Complete the following steps:

Send an e-mail to all students, staff members, or all participants: 

1.Click [Classlist] in your navigation bar. Next, click on the square box next to the word Email then select the [Emailicon to send an email to all students of the class.

     Note: to send an e-mail to all staff members of the class or everyone in the class choose the appropriate tab toward the top of the Classlist page.

2. You will be directed to a “Compose New Message” window. All recipients of the email will be listed in the “To” box.

4. Compose your email in the “Body” area and add a “Subject” for the email. Click [Send] toward top left of the window.

Sending an email to specific users:

1. Click [Classlist] in your navigation bar.

2. Check the square box next to the individual user(s) to whom you want to send an email.

3. Click [Email] 

3.  You will be directed to a “Compose New Message” window. The recipient(s) of the email will be listed in the “To” box.

4.  Compose your email message in the “Body” and add a “Subject”. Click [Send].

To send an email to a course “Group”: 

1. Click [Classlist] in your navigation bar.

2. In the “View By” drop down menu, choose the [Groups] and click on [Apply Filter].

3. In the “Groups” drop down menu, select the particular group to email and click on [Apply Filter]

4. Check the square box above the field of student names from the group.

5. Click [Email]. 

6. You will be directed to a “Compose New Message” window. All recipients of the email will be listed in the “To” box.

7. Compose your email in the “Body” area and type in the “Subject” for the email. Click [Send].

Caveats: 

  • If you have a large class size, make sure to increase the number of names displayed per page to account for all students in the course.
  • If you add email addresses manually at any point, place a semi-colon ” ; ” between email addresses, since D2L will not recognize a comma ” , ” as a valid address separator.
